There is a reason this place is 4.5 stars and this is probably one of the only places I will always return to when I visit London. The first time i visited Mayfair Chippy was a little over a year ago when I was traveling with my sister. This time around I was traveling with my boyfriend and I HAD to bring him here to experience how amazing the food is.
Fish and Chips are amazing, best i've ever had hands down. I recommend ordering the Mayfair Classic made with cod. It comes on a bed of chips (fries) and three sauces: mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a curry sauce. The cod was flakey and fried perfectly with a nice golden crust. Never a soggy greasy mess, never a bad fishy smell or taste. Seafood is very fresh and cooked to perfection.
At the end of our meal my boyfriend agreed this was the best fish and chip he ever experienced! My heart is so full to be able to share my love for this place with the people I love.
Very small restaurant, both times I forgot to book reservations online so i was seated at the counter with tall bar stools. Must visit whenever you are in town! -

Great little place. A lot smaller than I thought although they do have a little back room with 6 average sized tables. Lucky to score one in the corner where I didn't have to sit so close like the other first had to.
We waited about 45 min. There's no where to sit outside or wait inside so we bought a beer from the Pub across the street and just waited.
Once inside it was nice and cozy and warm. The hostess and the servers were very kind and attentive.
The Gf and I shared. Mayfair classic mushy peas, chips, fried fish ( in this case we chose haddock) and the usual sauces. We also ordered a fried piece of cod as the fries are enough to share for two and the Mayfair slaw which was very complimentary to the fried everything we were eating. That slaw had a nice pickled flavor and it was simple and quite tasty. The fish were perfectly battered and the chips were still crunchy. Take the fish off the chips guys and you won't have a soggy fries issue.
You also have to ask for WiFi but they're more than happy to share it with you. -

Amazing. A Michelin Star fish and chippery??
I don't like fish but I can do fish and chips if it's fresh and doesn't taste fishy. One of my friends who travels a lot for work told me to check this out next time I was in town. Easy to find, just south. Of Oxford Street a couple blocks west of Selfridges. Got my shopping done and we walked over on a chilly London evening.
It's a decent size but not large. Definitely recommend making an Open Table reservation.
We got the sole fish and chips plate (not the combo plate as we didn't need all the dipping sauces). The fish is amazingly cooked. As soon as you cut into it you can hear the crunch, the batter is so light and crispy, the texture is incredible. Fish was very fresh and not fishy at all. Good size portion and their tartar was so good with the fish. Chips also very well fried and perfect accompaniment. For dessert we got the sticky toffee pudding and it delivered. All this at fair prices. Definitely not Michelin Star prices at all.
Well def be back next time in London and I would say it's hands down the best fish and chips in town and we've been to quite a few spots over the years. -

I texted my wife, "I just had the best tartar sauce of my entire life!" Maybe that sounds super random, but it was that good that I had to tell someone about it.
Ordered the treacle salmon which was fantastic as an appetizer. Came with some of the slaw so I can speak to that as well. Incredible starter choice.
Dinner was Haddock fish & chips. Tartar, curry, and mushy peas. I wouldn't say it was the #1 best fried fish I've had in my entire life, but it's definitely 5 star worthy when taken as part of the whole for that dinner experience. Top 10 lifetime for sure.
Dessert menu was fun. Lots of puddings. Got the chocolate. It's basically chocolate lava cake. Was great but I ended up wishing I had ordered the sticky toffee pudding instead. You can get chocolate lava cake anywhere.
All in all I ended up really happy I went here. I almost hit some Indian at Dishoom but was super happy I made this choice because I would have been sad to not add it to my short list of places to go back to in London! -

This place is small and quaint. Walked in around 1:45pm for late lunch when we arrived in London on vacation. Was greeted promptly by friendly staff and asked if we had a reservation. We did not but got last table in very small restaurant. Very cute inside and decorated for holidays. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. Highly recommend but you may need a reservation.
